Supporting landlords through change
You probably already know that the private rented sector is facing a period of significant change, including:
reforms introduced through the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 , covering a wide range of issues such as tenancy terms, the setting of rents and regulations applying to eviction and repossession
proposed changes to Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
Most privately rented homes are expected to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or above by October 2030, unless an exemption applies. To help you understand what these changes could mean in practice, Bath & North East Somerset Council has partnered with Retrofit West and Neighbourhood Toolbox CIC to run a series of free B&NES Landlord Forums.

What happened at the first forum
The first forum took place at Buro Happold's Bath office on 16 July, bringing together 26 local landlords.
The event included presentations from Retrofit West and B&NES council’s Housing and Planning teams. Landlords had opportunities to speak directly to specialists about their properties. They were able to discuss challenges with older or harder-to-rent properties, ask questions about possible energy efficiency improvements and find out more about support available to help them plan improvements.

get information about available support and funding
learn from experts about their individual property or portfolio
Meet up with other property professionals
The forums are a unique opportunity to share experiences with other local landlords, and network with a wide variety of property specialists, such as:
retrofit experts
architects
heritage and conservation experts
building services professionals
planners and other local authority representatives
Free refreshments are also provided.
